Find Me On

Busy busy busy

My sister Valerie was here over the weekend. Instead of letting our Mom hog her the whole time, I went and got her to come spend the night Saturday. That way we could visit without me having to drive home again from Mom’s in the middle of the night like we did in the wee hours of Saturday morning! Couldn’t believe how the time can fly… it was 3 AM and ack, normal bedtime is 9 PM for me!

While Val was here, I got out the two silk ties I’d bought a few years ago to decorate for her husband Mike. Mike teaches school, and used to wear a tie every day. One of the silk ties I bought is white… my idea being to dye it. Alas, silk ties are not washable, so I had to scratch that idea.

What we did do to them was sponge them with Lumieres paints. I picked out Copper, Olive Green and Sunset Gold for the black tie. And Russet, Sunset Gold, Emerald Green and Blue Gold Halo on the white tie.

The colors came out looking very similar, and both have a sort of Autumn look about them. Sponged sort of randomly with a sea sponge for the texture, sea sponges are great for that and one of my favorite ways of applying Lumieres paints.

Did I take pictures? Of course not. But hopefully Val will get a photo of Mike actually wearing one and send it to me… and then I’ll post that. I liked how they came out, but I’m not likely to do more of them!

Since the weekend I’ve started buckling down working on my Alphabet swap pages. I have two letters to do, R and V. The design is the hardest bit, but the next problem with large projects is cutting all the paper out. I’m almost done with the paper cutting… since I’m doing layers that’s quite a bit of slicing and dicing on my Carl paper cutter. 26 pages each letter, thankfully it’s just an A2 sized page (quarter sheet for those non-card makers out there).

With the time change my evenings are strange. I get home from work and immediately go out to walk dogs. They need their exercise (and so do I!) while the weather is still nice. Beagles seem to love Autumn the best, lots and lots of sniffing going on, and hunting small creatures in the field. Oh, and finding deer treats, of course. Deer seem to really love persimmons, and we have LOTS of persimmon trees. So, we get lots of deer around those trees this time of year.

I’m also knitting… I gave away all my yarns, and immediately saw some on clearance at WallyWorld. Red and White, which are the colors of the Arkansas Razorbacks. So… I’m knitting another Fun Fur scarf in those colors. Not for me… I don’t need any more scarves. I’m sure I’ll think of someone that needs it, tho! It’s a lot of work knitting that Fun Fur, at least for me. May take me a while, too… mostly I’m knitting it at work on breaks and at lunch!

Guess this is all for tonight…

Oh, and finally got the prizes mailed today. Not that I think anyone actually reads here, but if you do, it’s on the way…

hugs,
Vyx
